The verdict
Own Your Labs sells Labcorp tests at some of the lowest stickers anywhere — CBC $8.40, CMP $10, lipid panel $10, A1c $8.80 — with the draw included and an optional 10% off for publishing your de-identified results to a public research data pool. For one test, TestWell is cheaper all-in on 31 of the 78 tests both companies sell: the specialty assays by $40-$90 (vitamin K $42.99 vs $129, biotin $65.99 vs $145, iodine $45.99 vs $101.70, ionized calcium $35.99 vs $84.29), while the routine tests go to Own Your Labs by $15-$20 each. Pick TestWell for specialty tests, Quest or Labcorp at checkout, New York or New Jersey through BioReference, an emailed requisition instead of a printed form, and physician-reviewed guidance with your results; pick Own Your Labs for a Labcorp cart of routine tests on price alone.

How do prices compare on common tests?
TestWell prices pulled live from our catalog. Own Your Labs prices verified 2026-10-12. Across the 78 tests both companies sell, TestWell is cheaper all-in on 31 for a single-test order; see the real-order table below for multi-test carts.
All-in columns add TestWell's $6 lab processing fee for a single-test order; Own Your Labs charges no per-order fee, so its sticker is its all-in price. The fee is charged once per order, so multi-test orders dilute it. Competitor pricing pulled from public ordering pages on 2026-10-12; subject to change.
What does a real order cost?

Where does TestWell win?
- •Specialty tests priced like routine ones: vitamin K $42.99 all-in vs $129, biotin $65.99 vs $145, iodine $45.99 vs $101.70, ionized calcium $35.99 vs $84.29, ceruloplasmin $35.99 vs $79.07, mercury $43.99 vs $79.10, transferrin $30.99 vs $75.31, reverse T3 $41.99 vs $72.80 — TestWell is cheaper all-in on 31 of the 78 matched single-test orders (checked 2026-10-12)
- •Choice of Quest or Labcorp at checkout, plus New York and New Jersey through BioReference — Own Your Labs is Labcorp-only, cannot serve New York residents at all, and limits Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and Rhode Island residents to at-home kits
- •The requisition is emailed to you (usually within the hour) and shown on your phone at the draw; Own Your Labs requires the lab order to be printed on paper and brought to Labcorp
- •The price is the price: no checkbox, data-sharing consent or demographic form changes what you pay, and your results are never published anywhere
- •Every reference range, guide, calculator and test page carries a named physician reviewer with a public license, and results come with the reviewed range and what can move the value; Own Your Labs' test pages carry a description, SKU, CPT and turnaround, with no named clinician
- •Results in 1-3 business days on most tests; Own Your Labs quotes 1 day on about half its menu and 2-12 days on the rest
- •Curated panels that beat their à-la-carte stack where it counts: the Essential Thyroid Panel (TSH, free T4, free T3) is $55.99 all-in vs $73.40 for the same three tests there
Where does Own Your Labs win?
- •Routine tests at $8-$20 with the draw included: CBC $8.40 vs $27.99 all-in at TestWell, CMP $10 vs $28.99, lipid panel $10 vs $30.99, A1c $8.80 vs $28.99, TSH $13.20 vs $33.99, ferritin $15 vs $31.99, PSA $16.80 vs $45.99, ApoB $17.20 vs $45.99
- •Multi-test carts of routine tests: CBC + CMP + lipid + TSH is $41.60 there vs $55.99 for TestWell's General Wellness Panel, and nine wellness tests are $153.60 vs $195.99 for the ten-test Essential Health Panel
- •One test where TestWell is simply more expensive: the mono test, $22.60 there vs $90.99 here — Labcorp's mono screen costs TestWell more through its lab network than Own Your Labs charges retail. They also sell an immunoassay total testosterone for $29.80; the LC/MS-MS version both companies sell is $57 there vs $49.99 here
- •An optional 10% discount if you choose to contribute de-identified results to a public research data pool, and the research mission that comes with it
- •Orders stay valid for six months, Labcorp blood-draw orders are refundable until you visit the lab, and there is a phone line
- •Tests TestWell does not carry: GlycA, Lp-PLA2 activity, fructosamine, quantitative hCG, a sensitive LC/MS estradiol, urine albumin/creatinine ratio, growth hormone, glucagon, erythropoietin, IL-6, TNF, carnitine, vitamins B2 and B3, aluminum, ANCA profile, factor VIII, a two-hour glucose tolerance test, salivary cortisol, COVID-19 antibodies and a set of single-allergen IgE tests

Is Own Your Labs legit?
Yes. Own Your Labs is a real direct-to-consumer lab-ordering service run by Own Your Labs LLC: you pay online, a physician in their network reviews and approves the order (their terms describe this; no clinician is named on the site), you print the lab order and have your blood drawn at a Labcorp patient service center — the same CLIA-certified Labcorp lab that runs TestWell's Labcorp orders, so for matched tests the assay and reference ranges are identical. The company grew out of a citizen-science community's blood-testing drives, lists its team on its About page, has a phone line and a refund policy, and processes payments through Stripe.
The things to know before ordering are structural, not red flags: Labcorp is the only lab, so New York residents cannot order and Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and Rhode Island residents are limited to at-home kits; the lab order must be printed on paper; the optional 10% Citizen Science Discount publishes your de-identified demographics and full results to a public research archive, which is the point of the project but is worth reading the terms on; and the test pages carry a description, SKU, CPT and turnaround rather than physician-reviewed guidance. If none of those matter for your order, it is a legitimate and unusually cheap way to buy routine Labcorp tests.
Own Your Labs alternatives
TestWell — Quest or Labcorp at checkout, BioReference in New York and New Jersey, an emailed requisition instead of a printed form, no data-sharing condition on any price, 1-3-day turnaround on most tests, and every test page and reference range reviewed by a named physician. Cheaper all-in on 31 of the 78 tests both companies sell — the specialty assays by $40-$90 — and more expensive by $15-$20 on the routine ones.
Labcorp OnDemand — Labcorp's own storefront. The same Labcorp test numbers (lipid panel 303756, TSH 004259, vitamin D 081950) at the same draw sites with no printed form, but list prices run 2-6× higher: lipid panel $59, TSH $49, vitamin D $99 (checked 2026-10-10); see our Labcorp OnDemand comparison. Ulta Lab Tests and Walk-In Lab sell Labcorp tests à la carte with their own draw fees.
Jason Health and JustLabs — the Quest-side equivalents of the low-sticker model ($5-$15 tests plus an $18 or $28 per-order fee), for people whose nearest draw site is a Quest; compared on our Jason Health and JustLabs pages.
When is TestWell not the right choice?
Every service here has real limits, including ours. Skip TestWell — and consider Own Your Labs or another option — if any of these apply to you.
- You're ordering routine tests — CBC, CMP, lipid panel, A1c, TSH, ferritin — at a Labcorp you can get to, you can print the order form, and price is the only criterion. Own Your Labs is $15-$20 per test cheaper and there is no fee to spread.
- You want to contribute your results to an open research data pool; that is Own Your Labs' founding purpose and TestWell does not publish results anywhere.
- You need a test TestWell doesn't carry (GlycA, Lp-PLA2, fructosamine, growth hormone, IL-6, salivary cortisol, a two-hour glucose tolerance test, single-allergen IgE).
- You want a clinician consult included. A licensed physician authorizes every TestWell order, but that review is not a visit — there is no call to walk through results unless you bring them to your own provider.
- You can't get to a draw site. TestWell is venous-draw only at Quest, Labcorp and BioReference locations; we don't ship at-home finger-prick kits.

Frequently asked questions
Are TestWell and Own Your Labs using the same labs?
When the lab partner is the same (Quest or Labcorp), the actual analysis is identical — same machines, same reference ranges, same CLIA-certified facility. The differences are price, ordering experience, and what's included.
Can I switch from Own Your Labs to TestWell mid-year?
Yes. Lab tests aren't subscriptions you have to cancel — each order stands alone. If you've already paid for a year of Own Your Labs, use what you've paid for, and order any additional tests through TestWell.
Will my doctor accept TestWell results?
Yes. Your results are CLIA-certified lab results from Quest or Labcorp — the same labs your doctor uses. You can download a PDF and bring it to any provider.
What does an Own Your Labs order actually cost?
The price on the test page — the Labcorp draw is included and there is no per-order fee, so a $10 lipid panel is $10 at checkout (or $9 with the optional 10% Citizen Science Discount). At TestWell the same lipid panel drawn at Labcorp is $24.99 plus a single $6 fee, $30.99 all-in. On specialty tests the order flips: vitamin K is $129 there and $42.99 all-in here.
Is Own Your Labs cheaper than TestWell?
It depends on the test. Routine tests — CBC, CMP, lipid panel, A1c, TSH, ferritin, PSA — are $15-$20 cheaper at Own Your Labs ($8.40-$17 vs $28-$46 all-in). Specialty assays are cheaper at TestWell by $40-$90: vitamin K $42.99 vs $129, biotin $65.99 vs $145, iodine $45.99 vs $101.70, ionized calcium $35.99 vs $84.29. Across the 78 tests both sell, TestWell is cheaper all-in on 31 (checked 2026-10-12).
What is the Own Your Labs Citizen Science Discount?
An optional checkbox at checkout that takes 10% off the order in exchange for your consent to publish your de-identified demographics (age, sex, the lifestyle and diet form you fill in) and your full results to a public research data archive. It is off by default and you can uncheck it before placing the order. Your name, email, phone and address are not attached to the published data. TestWell has no equivalent: nothing you share changes the price and results are never published.
Is Own Your Labs legit?
Yes — it is a physician-authorized ordering service that draws at Labcorp patient service centers (the same CLIA-certified lab TestWell uses for Labcorp orders), with a listed team, a phone line and a refund policy. The trade-offs are structural: Labcorp only (no New York; Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey and Rhode Island residents get at-home kits only), a printed order form, no named clinician on the site, and a data-sharing discount worth reading the terms on.
What are the best alternatives to Own Your Labs?
TestWell for specialty tests, Quest or Labcorp at checkout, New York and New Jersey through BioReference, an emailed requisition and physician-reviewed results pages; Labcorp OnDemand to buy directly from Labcorp at much higher prices; Jason Health or JustLabs for the same low-sticker model drawn at Quest. For a Labcorp cart of routine tests, Own Your Labs itself is usually the cheapest total.
Does Own Your Labs serve New York or New Jersey?
New York residents cannot order from Own Your Labs at all, and New Jersey residents are limited to SiPhox at-home kits — Labcorp does not accept self-ordered draws in those states. TestWell routes New York and New Jersey orders to BioReference Laboratories patient service centers automatically.
Are Own Your Labs and TestWell using the same lab?
For Labcorp orders, yes — both send you to the same Labcorp patient service centers and the matched tests carry the same Labcorp test numbers, so the assay and reference ranges are identical. TestWell also offers Quest at checkout and BioReference in New York and New Jersey; Own Your Labs is Labcorp-only.
