The short answer

Type a test name, CPT code or Quest/Labcorp test code and the checker shows the cash price for that test on Quest Health and Labcorp OnDemand (read from the labs' own pages on the date shown), the TestWell price for the same draw, and a typical hospital self-pay figure. Every result has a shareable link.

How much do the most common blood tests cost at Quest, Labcorp and TestWell?

Cash prices for one test ordered alone. Quest Health and Labcorp OnDemand figures are read from the labs' own pages (dates in the tool above); TestWell's all-in includes its single $6 fee. Full lists: Quest Diagnostics prices · Labcorp prices · Quest vs Labcorp.

Why does the same blood test have three different prices?

Because the price depends on who is billing, not on the test. A hospital outpatient lab bills from its chargemaster and negotiates down with insurers; a self-pay patient often sees the undiscounted number. The labs' own consumer sites sell a fixed cash price that includes physician oversight and the draw. A lab-ordering network like TestWell buys the same test codes at volume rates and adds one flat fee — which is why the identical draw at the identical Quest or Labcorp location can carry three prices.

With insurance, the relevant number is your deductible: until it is met you typically pay the plan's negotiated rate, which for routine tests is frequently above the consumer cash price. If you are shopping with insurance, ask for the negotiated rate and compare it to the cash prices here.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the Quest and Labcorp prices come from?

From each lab's own direct-to-consumer site — Quest Health (questhealth.com) and Labcorp OnDemand (ondemand.labcorp.com). A script reads the list price from the public product page and records the date; every price in the checker links to the page it came from. Those are consumer cash prices, not what the labs bill insurers or charge through a doctor's order.

Why do some tests show only a TestWell price?

The labs' consumer sites sell a fraction of their catalogs — Quest Health about 170 products, Labcorp OnDemand about 140 — so many single markers and specialty tests have no consumer list price to compare against. The checker shows a lab price only when the same test (or a documented equivalent, with the difference noted) is sold there.

What does the hospital figure mean?

A typical hospital outpatient self-pay charge for the same test, kept as a reference point. Hospital prices vary widely by facility and are often higher; the figure is labelled as a reference and is not read from any single hospital's price file.

Can I link to or embed a result?

Yes. Each result has a permanent URL (the test slug in the address bar) that you can share or cite; the numbers on it update automatically when prices are re-checked. Data on the companion price-list pages is CC BY 4.0 — cite TestWell and link back.

Which tests give you these numbers?

Physician-authorized, drawn at Quest, Labcorp or BioReference. Results in 1–3 business days for most tests.
