Editorial Policy & Medical Review Standards
TestWell publishes educational content about lab testing — what tests measure, who they help, and how to read results. Because people make health decisions with this information, we hold it to a clinical standard, not a marketing one.
Our medical reviewer
Youmna DiStefano, MD
Medical Reviewer, TestWell
Dr. DiStefano is a Florida-licensed physician (license ME132254, verifiable through the Florida Department of Health) in clinical practice since 2017, with fellowship training in pain medicine. She reviews TestWell's clinical content for accuracy: reference ranges, who a test is and is not appropriate for, and how results should be interpreted.
Pages that have completed physician review carry a "Medically reviewed by" byline with the date of the most recent review. Content that has not yet been reviewed does not carry the byline.
How our content is produced
- Prices, turnaround times, sample types, and CPT codes are generated from our live catalog — the same data that powers checkout — so cited numbers match what you actually pay.
- Reference ranges are typical adult values, always framed with the reminder that labs vary and your report's ranges govern.
- Decision guidance is honest in both directions: every "is it worth it" guide includes who can skip the test, not just who should order it.
- Educational content is not medical advice and never replaces a clinician who knows your history. Critical or ambiguous results should always be discussed with a provider.
