The Basic Metabolic Panel (BMP) is one of the most commonly ordered blood tests. It measures 8 key substances in your blood to evaluate kidney function, blood sugar levels, and electrolyte/fluid balance. It's often used as a baseline health screen and to monitor chronic conditions like diabetes and hypertension.
8-test metabolic snapshot: glucose, calcium, sodium, potassium, CO2, chloride, BUN, creatinine. A smaller, cheaper alternative to the 14-test CMP when liver markers aren't needed.
