A complete urinalysis examines the physical, chemical, and microscopic properties of your urine. It can detect urinary tract infections, kidney disease, diabetes, liver problems, and dehydration. The test evaluates color, clarity, pH, specific gravity, protein, glucose, ketones, blood, leukocytes, and examines the urine sediment under a microscope.
Kidney and urinary testing evaluates how well your kidneys filter waste, balance electrolytes, and detect early signs of kidney damage from diabetes, hypertension, or medications.
