This test uses Transcription-Mediated Amplification (TMA) to detect Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae RNA in a urine sample. TMA is one of the most sensitive methods available, capable of detecting very small amounts of bacterial genetic material. Both infections are often asymptomatic, especially in women, making screening important. Untreated, they can lead to pelvic inflammatory disease, infertility, and other complications.
Combined NAAT (nucleic acid amplification test) for the two most common bacterial STIs in the US. Recommended annually for sexually active women under 25 and anyone with new or multiple partners.
Sexually active women under 25 annually per USPSTF, anyone with new partner(s), partners of someone diagnosed, anyone with discharge / dysuria / pelvic pain, MSM testing every 3-6 months at all sites of exposure.
