The green-card medical exam (Form I-693) must be performed by a USCIS-designated civil surgeon — no direct-to-consumer test replaces it. What this panel does is let you walk in prepared: it screens the same infectious-disease markers the civil surgeon will test, weeks before your appointment. A positive TB blood test discovered AT the exam means chest X-rays, possible latent-TB treatment, and months of delay at the worst possible moment; discovering it early means you can start any needed follow-up on your own schedule. The panel includes the QuantiFERON-TB Gold Plus blood test (the modern TB test that is not affected by BCG vaccination, which most immigrants received), syphilis screening with automatic confirmatory testing, and urine-based gonorrhea/chlamydia screening — the same test types listed in the CDC's Technical Instructions for civil surgeons. Results are CLIA-certified and yours to keep.
Pre-screens the infectious-disease markers evaluated at the USCIS civil-surgeon medical exam (tuberculosis via IGRA blood test, syphilis with reflex confirmation, gonorrhea/chlamydia) so applicants can identify and address issues weeks before their I-693 appointment. Does not replace the civil-surgeon exam.
Green-card and adjustment-of-status applicants who want to know their TB and STI screening status before the official civil-surgeon exam — especially anyone BCG-vaccinated who has previously had a positive TB skin test.
