Dog allergy is a reaction to proteins in dog dander, saliva and urine (Can f 1 and related allergens), carried on hair and settled into carpets and upholstery. This test measures the IgE antibody your immune system makes against dog dander; a raised level means you are sensitized, and with your symptoms it tells your clinician whether a dog is a likely trigger. Because it is a blood test, antihistamines do not interfere and there is nothing to stop beforehand. No breed is truly hypoallergenic — all dogs shed dander — so the result applies to dogs generally, not one breed. It is a single-allergen test: if you also react around cats, the Cat Allergy Test or the Dog & Cat combo covers both. A negative result makes dog allergy unlikely but does not exclude irritation from dust, mold or pollen carried on a dog's coat.

The table shows each lab's own test code, the name printed on the requisition, what the lab charges on its own consumer site, and the price through TestWell at that lab (plus one $6 fee per order).
