TestWell vs Ulta Lab Tests
Deep Quest-only catalog with low sticker prices plus a per-order draw fee. An honest side-by-side comparison covering price, lab partners, test selection, and turnaround.
Pricing data verified September 5, 2026.
The verdict
Ulta Lab Tests has lower sticker prices on most single tests, but adds a $12.95 draw fee per order — so a single test costs about the same all-in, and Ulta wins once you bundle several tests on one order. Pick TestWell for a Labcorp option, New York and New Jersey coverage, and a curated catalog; pick Ulta for long-tail specialty tests and multi-test bundles.

Where does TestWell win?
- •All-in cost of a single test is lower once fees are added: TSH is $26.99 + $6 processing at TestWell ($32.99) vs $22.95 + $12.95 draw fee at Ulta ($35.90)
- •Choice of Quest OR Labcorp at checkout — Ulta routes only to Quest
- •New York and New Jersey are served (via BioReference); Ulta can't sell to NY, NJ or RI residents
- •Curated catalog (~150 tests, 60+ panels) plus the Lab Agent to help pick the right test — Ulta is a 2,000-SKU search box
- •Condition-specific panels (GLP-1 monitoring, Menopause, Fertility, Heart Health) priced below the equivalent à-la-carte sum
Where does Ulta Lab Tests win?
- •Lower sticker prices on most individual tests — and cheaper all-in once you put two or more tests on the same order, because the $12.95 fee is per order, not per test
- •Far larger catalog: 2,000+ tests and 400 panels, including specialty assays we don't list
- •Weekly promotions on rotating tests
- •~2,500 Quest draw sites and an established brand (Scottsdale, AZ; live for over a decade)
We’d rather be honest about where they have an edge — pick the tool that matches your situation.
When is TestWell not the right choice?
Every service here has real limits, including ours. Skip TestWell — and consider Ulta Lab Tests or another option — if any of these apply to you.
- You want a clinician consult included. A licensed physician authorizes every TestWell order, but that review is not a visit — there is no call to walk through results unless you bring them to your own provider.
- You can't get to a draw site. TestWell is venous-draw only at Quest, Labcorp and BioReference locations; we don't ship at-home finger-prick kits.
- You live in Rhode Island — we can't serve it yet. New York and New Jersey orders route to BioReference locations only, which means fewer draw sites than Quest or Labcorp offer elsewhere.
- You need insurance billed. TestWell is cash-pay; HSA/FSA cards work and every order gets an itemized receipt, but we don't file claims.
- You need a specialty assay outside our catalog (~150 tests and 60+ panels). The big marketplaces list 1,000–2,000 SKUs; we deliberately don't.
