Which states allow direct-access lab testing?

Through TestWell you can order your own physician-authorized blood tests in 51 states plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. In 49 of them the draw happens at Quest Diagnostics or Labcorp; New York and New Jersey route to BioReference because of state licensing rules; Rhode Island is the one state we can't serve yet. Every order pays the listed test price plus one $6 lab processing fee — no insurance, referral or appointment needed.

Can I order my own lab tests in every state?

Through TestWell, in every state except Rhode Island, plus Washington, D.C. and Puerto Rico. A physician licensed for your state authorizes each order, which is what makes direct-access ordering work everywhere we operate. New York and New Jersey orders are drawn at BioReference rather than Quest or Labcorp.

Why do New York and New Jersey route to BioReference?

Both states have licensing rules that keep Quest and Labcorp from accepting self-ordered draws. BioReference Laboratories is licensed to perform them, so TestWell routes NY and NJ orders there automatically at checkout. Pricing and the results portal are the same; a few items carry a BioReference-specific price shown on the test page.

Why isn't Rhode Island available?

TestWell cannot currently place orders for draws in Rhode Island, so checkout does not accept a Rhode Island address. We'll update this page the day that changes.

Does the state I live in or the state I'm drawn in matter?

The state where your blood is drawn. Requisitions work at any Quest or Labcorp patient service center in the states we serve, so a Florida resident can be drawn in Georgia; NY and NJ draws must happen at BioReference regardless of home address.
