## What does the Vaginal Health + STI Panel cover?

BV, yeast, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea together — the five infections behind most abnormal discharge, from one lab visit.

Abnormal discharge, odor, itching, or irritation can come from a vaginal imbalance or from an STI, and the symptoms overlap enough that treating on a guess often fails. The Vaginal Health + STI Panel covers both possibilities in one Quest visit: the Vaginitis Panel detects Gardnerella vaginalis (bacterial vaginosis), Candida species (yeast), and Trichomonas vaginalis from a vaginal swab you collect yourself in a private restroom, and the Chlamydia & Gonorrhea test screens for the two most common bacterial STIs from a urine sample. Each organism is reported separately so treatment can match what is actually there. It is meant for people who currently have symptoms or a known exposure — no pelvic exam, no clinician appointment first.

**Clinical use:** Distinguishes bacterial vaginosis, vulvovaginal candidiasis, trichomoniasis, chlamydia, and gonorrhea as the cause of vaginal discharge or irritation so each can be treated specifically.

## Who should order it?

Women with abnormal discharge, odor, itching, or irritation — especially with a new partner or possible exposure — who want the vaginal causes and the common STIs checked in one visit.

## How much does a Vaginal Health + STI Panel cost?

A Vaginal Health + STI Panel costs $189.99 at TestWell — $195.99 all-in when ordered alone, because the $6 lab processing fee is charged once per order, with no draw fee or physician fee added. With insurance, what you pay depends on your deductible and your plan's negotiated rate; TestWell's price is fixed before the draw and is HSA/FSA-eligible.

| Where you order | Price | One test, all-in | Notes |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| TestWell (drawn at Quest or Labcorp) | $189.99 | $195.99 | Includes the one $6 lab processing fee, charged once per order |

## How do you prepare?

No fasting. You collect the vaginal swab yourself at the lab (staff provide the kit and instructions). Do not urinate for at least 1 hour before your visit so the urine sample is first-catch. If you can, avoid douching, vaginal creams, and intercourse for 24 hours beforehand.

## Common questions about the Vaginal Health + STI Panel

### What samples do I give?

Two, both at the same Quest visit: a vaginal swab you collect yourself in a private restroom using the kit the staff hand you, and a first-catch urine sample for chlamydia and gonorrhea. There is no pelvic exam and no blood draw.

### Why combine vaginitis testing with an STI test?

Because the symptoms overlap. Discharge and irritation can be BV or yeast, but chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis cause the same complaints and need different treatment and partner notification. Testing both sides at once avoids a second visit when the first result comes back negative.

### Is this a complete STI panel?

No — it covers the infections that cause discharge and irritation. It does not include HIV, syphilis, herpes, or hepatitis, which are blood tests. For full screening, add the STI Basic or STI Comprehensive panel.

### What if I don't have symptoms?

If you are symptom-free and want to screen after a new partner, the Chlamydia & Gonorrhea test or an STI panel is the better fit. The vaginitis portion is intended for people with current symptoms, since Gardnerella and Candida can be present in healthy people without needing treatment.
