It's the standard test for monitoring patients on unfractionated heparin therapy, evaluating unexplained bleeding or bruising, screening for clotting factor deficiencies (including hemophilia A and B, von Willebrand disease, and Factor XI deficiency), and assessing for lupus anticoagulant antibodies. aPTT is often ordered alongside PT/INR for a complete coagulation workup, especially before surgery.
